Joseph H. Pilates developed his unique method of body conditioning over 90 years ago. Born in Germany, a frail and sickly child, he was determined to improve his weakened condition through mental and physical application, hence the method was born. Pilates exercise programme focuses on:
Increasing and creating a balance between strength and flexibility
Improving coordination, alignment and posture
Releasing tension and focussing the mind
The exercises are designed to identify and recruit the muscles of the body in order to maximise engagement without causing stress.

Teresa Hunter qualified, with distinction, in August 2004 with the Pilates Foundation UK Ltd., a governing body created by a group of experienced Pilates teachers in order to maintain the integrity, philosophy and values of the Method.
Ongoing learning, required by the Pilates Foundation UK in
order to maintain quality and professionalism, means that Teresa will shortly be attending another phase of training and enabling her to introduce further studio equipment and
expertise to her classes.
