Psychotherapy is the systematic use of a relationship between therapist and client - as opposed to pharmalogical or social methods - to produce changes in cognition feelings and behaviour. Forms of psychotherapy include counselling, hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Cognitive Behavioural therapy.
Hypnosis works by tapping into the unconscious by allowing external distractions to fade. The therapy allows subjects to focus on the problems in hand and to change inappropriate behaviour, thoughts and feelings. Effective for panic attacks, anxiety, guilt, anger, lack of self confidence.
Neuro Linguistic Programming is a very fast change technique used by hypnotherapists with advanced clinical training. NLP is effective in the treatment of habit disorders such as over eating and smoking and in a different form is used to deal with phobias and severe anxiety states.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps us to understand the effect that thoughts have on our feelings, and how feelings influence our behaviour.
